If it is a desktop then it should be fine because desktop HDD comes with 7.2K ram speed which manages well but laptops are unfortunate. Laptop HDD only spins at maximum 5k RPM which makes everything slow. Check what’s the supported ram amount of your baseboard. MinMine supports 16gb ram at a maximum clock speed of 1.33ghz. so i can buy 2 x 8gb 1333mhz ddr3 slots. Faster ram with a speed of say 1600 or 1866mhz will be recognised and function but be underclocked to the 1333mhz my motherboard supports.
